SNOW WHITE - B
So... a lot has been said about this film.
From concerns about represenation, real-life politics, story changes and even review-bombing, this is easily the most crontroversial Disney Live-Action Remake yet... and, if we're being honest, I think it's been a bit overblown. Not invalid, per se, just... a bit too harsh.
Put simply: I enjoy this film. Quite a bit, actually. But it's hard to admit that publicly without being caught up in an Online Windstorm of hatred and dismissal of enjoying something some don't. Here's the thing: I think some of the "problems" people have about it are actually "plusses" for it.
Where some see Gal Gadot (who plays the Evil Witch) as a bad actor and not a great personality, I see as an enhancement of her being even more of a villain. Where some see weird CGI, I see a Fairy Tale Story being treated as a Fairy Tale: A story that's a bit off and weird, yet still enlightening and interesting.
And, sorry not sorry, the "Hi Ho" song sequence in the mines is the best part of the film, in my opinion. It was just the right amount of fun and catchiness for me.
All-in-all, I (yet again) am an advocate for supporting "Good Time Movies/Shows": Ones that aren't perfect on a quality basis, but is just the right entertainment vibe for you to enjoy it almost as much as a more typical "quality" film/show.
